    It would be nice if you could do these in a part 1, sit. (For example.) Part 2 heel, etc etc etc… Should these be done in any particular order?

    Completely agree. E-collar for training things that will save a dog’s life like chasing sheep. Don’t agree with e-collars with everyday training or dog sports.

    So so helpful to see. I'm planning on taking mine to London for the first time after the hot weather passes. Would be SO helpful to see how to teach a pup to be comfortable on a train or the tube... Thank you!

    Hi I’m getting a cocker for the first time in 2 months and I’m not sure what to feed her. Should it be a raw diet? What kibble do you recommend? I’m in the US if that matters. I just want the best for her and I really can’t tell what food is good for her!

    Great video Charlie and Waffle. We are lucky enough to have our own field to train and walk our pup but town and city training is just as important for a well socialised dog 🐕

    How beautiful Waffle is! Very similar to my 11 month old cocker Dexter. Street training is certainly a must. We live in Cambridge and just like London, traffic everywhere. Slowly but surely we are getting there. Good luck Waffle

    One of the dogs in our neighbourhood is a blond Labrador. She comes from our national breeding program for guide dogs. Due to her specific qualities like stoicism, strength, and extremely stable character she was instead used to be a mum. Her nearly all her pups became guide dogs for the blind. She’s fantastic but retrieving, jumping a fence or a high drive to work are not her first nature. She’s wired to learn to make independent decisions and take up her space.

    • @Jacky-zj6ol
      @Jacky-zj6ol 3 дня назад

      @@voltrondefenderoftheuniver8658 our program is strict when it comes to how the (potential) guide dogs are bred and used. If a dog is used as a mother dog they don’t complete their training. Instead of working dogs they become well cared for pets.

    I've got a labrador puppy, hes 15 weeks on Saturday, he's great at most things, retrieving, I can get him to wait to retrieve now, hell wait to eat until I give him the command, he'll sit when I say but I just cant get him to walk to heel. I watched your video on it but just cant get him to walk to heel. Maybe I am doing to much with him, I know he is doing exceptionally well for his age. I think because he took to everything else so quickly. With training I do 3 x15 minutes a session a day, sometimes more

    Hi Charlie - I’ve really enjoyed watching your videos intermittently whilst getting to know my first dog - a lively wcs! Sadly I haven’t always followed some of the advice (like don’t walk your dog!!) so now at almost 9 months of age I need to do a bit of retraining of obedience that’s slipped a bit/never really existed let’s be honest😬and work at keeping her closer. I’ll be interested to see how you get on with the retriever from Switzerland! Can I ask - at 8-12 months of age how long would you be creating a dog like Waffle during the day? Thanks Claire

  • @aranka4372
    @aranka4372 7 дней назад

    Interesting video, just a question though; does this advice (not doing anything really with your puppy the first months) difference between breeds? Or would you treat a , let's say, flatcoated retriever the same as a labrador retriever? I ask this because I literally just saw a Flatcoated breeder working on sit/stay at a distance with a 14 week old puppy and I thought that might be a bit early (after seeing your video).

    E-collars are not shock collars. There is no zap or electric shock. They are multi-faceted tools in a world of one-dimensional thinking. E-collars are a highly effective tool when used classically or operantly. E-collars are muscle contractors, similar to a tens muscle stimulator. The electricity passes from contact to contact, not through the body. E-collars are tactile commanders and the best way to communicate with your dog at a distance. You can use them as a gas pedal, or you can use them as a brake. You condition an e-collar the same way you condition a lead. A lead gives you directional guidance, and you layer the sensation of the e-collar with the pressure of the lead. Yes, you can teach a dog to sit, down, stand, heel, come to you and go away from you with an e-collar. If you are fluent in classical and operant conditioning, you will understand the steps of pairing signals. All the top competition-level dogs in the world of IGP, PSA, NVBK, KNPV, CACIT, etc., are all trained with clickers and e-collars. You can train any animal with a clicker, such as a rat, dolphin, lion, or dog.

    I sat down on the floor, he climbed up on my knee, had a fuss and a play? Then snuggled in and fell fast asleep on my lap. Whatever else, he was most certainly comfortable enough with me to do that.

    Great video, lovely dog. How does calling the dog back from the being in a sit, at 12:02, fit in with other videos where you say always goes back to the dog when in the sit? Is it a different context, the dog is working, and the dog knows this?

    3 days of walking my Belgian Malinois like this it's been absolute bliss results are staggering, the loose lead is genius complete opposite of any advice iv come across, always tight slip and slip collar seemed iv almost gained respect back from my dog, trust works both ways I guess 🙏 sit whistle aswell he's coming on, thank you
